SYNOPSIS:
When sibling rivalry leads to a tragic car accident, twin brothers Virgil and J.D. Johnson must cope with the loss of their mother. Months later, Virgil is still recovering in the hospital when J.D. visits him and reveals that he has enlisted in the Air Force, taking away Virgil's lifelong dream. Faced with this devastating news, Virgil decides to cut ties with his family and head west to create a new life. As the years go by, Virgil's best friend and business partner dies, leaving Virgil to realize that his hard work has resulted in a life filled with loneliness and isolation. Desperate for the family connection he has longed for, he cashes in his life savings, only to have that money stolen. Now broke, Virgil returns home, discovering that J.D. has also passed away. Out of anger, Virgil poses as his deceased brother, leading to a night in jail, where he meets Cinnamon, a street-savvy Drag Queen who listens to Virgil's tale of woe. With no family to call, he must rely on the kindness of his brother's best friend, Tommy, to bail him out. Since their relationship was estranged, Virgil learns that Tommy is the executor of his brother's estate and is now indebted to him for more than bail money. Striking up a deal, Virgil works for Tommy in his 50s-style diner, where he meets Sophie, a widowed waitress and mother to five-year-old Rose. For Virgil, it is the kind of family he has always wanted. However, Virgil's past continues to haunt him, preventing him from the life he dreams of having with Sophie. Hitting rock bottom, Virgil must come to terms with his mistakes and the repercussions they will have on a future with those he loves.
